Funeral director software for independent UK firms

When a case is live, the important details should not live in one person’s head.

Hallowed gives your team one clear working record for every arrangement—so the right person can see what has been agreed, what needs doing next, and how to keep families appropriately informed. Less avoidable remembering. More attention where it matters.

The feature-tour trap

Most software looks capable in a demonstration. The real test comes later.

The case is not always tidy. A family calls back with a change. A document needs to be reviewed. A colleague is away. A supplier cost arrives. The person who knows the case best is unavailable.

The question is not whether a system has a long feature list. It is whether it keeps the essential work clear when those things happen together. Hallowed is designed around that day-to-day reality: a shared case record, visible next actions, thoughtful family communication, and the financial detail connected to the work that created it.

Before you choose any system, use the same real-case scenario in every demonstration. Our free buyer’s guide gives you the scenario and a 12-question vendor evaluation checklist.

The work behind every arrangement

A clear workflow earns its place in three ordinary moments.

01

When the case needs to move

A colleague should be able to see the current arrangements, family contact, notes, tasks and documents without searching a notebook, inbox or someone else’s memory.

02

When a family needs reassurance

Families need personal care first. A private page, confirmed details and a clear document-review process can make information easier to find without replacing the human conversation.

03

When it is time to invoice

Professional fees, third-party costs, payments and outstanding balances should be recorded against the case as the work happens—not rebuilt from receipts at the end.

Hallowed does not ask you to make your practice less personal. It takes routine remembering and chasing out of the background, so your team has more capacity for the care that cannot be automated.

Case continuity

Give the right person a clear view of the case.

Every arrangement has a complete, shared working record. Assign the next action, see what is outstanding, retain a record of who completed it and keep the important detail available to the authorised team.

If someone is unavailable, the case does not have to pause while the practice works out what they knew.

A more sustainable day

Give yourself some headspace back.

The aim is not to remove the owner from every case. It is to stop routine detail following you home: the status check, the document waiting for approval, the fee that still needs entering, the update a family could see without having to call.

You remain the person families trust. Hallowed helps the practice hold the work around you.

“The case belongs in a clear working record—not in the head of the person who cares most about getting it right.”

Practical tools for the whole case

One connected workflow, from first call to final invoice.

Hallowed brings the essential operational work into one place. Each part of the platform is there to make a live case easier to understand, progress and hand over.

Keep the live case clear

Capture first-call details, care requirements, service plans, contacts, notes, tasks, key dates and documents against the same case record.

Share the right information with care

Use family letters and emails, or create a private portal for confirmed arrangements, document review and named approvals. Families can use the approach that suits them.

Draft carefully; keep final control

Use structured prompts to draft an obituary, order of service or correspondence from the facts you provide. Review, revise and retain a record of family approval or requested changes.

Capture financial detail while it is current

Record fees, third-party costs, invoices, payments and balances against the case. Keep controllable and uncontrollable disbursements distinguishable when preparing the invoice.

Make routine review easier to evidence

Organise price-list work, disclosure tasks, documents and internal review activity in a CMA-focused workspace. Hallowed supports your process; it does not replace official guidance or professional judgement.

Coordinate people, time and resources

Assign work with accountability, see upcoming activity in the calendar, manage branch workflows and keep mortuary locations and movements connected to the case.

Keep control of your own records

Export company data when needed, manage roles in the team, and cancel without a hidden lock-in process.

Before you choose any software

Do not buy from a feature tour alone.

We created a practical guide to help independent firms compare any funeral software fairly. It includes a real-case demonstration scenario and 12 questions covering case continuity, family communication, financial control, data export, migration, onboarding, support and commercial terms.

Use it with Hallowed. Use it with another provider. Use it to assess the system you already have. The right answer is the one that supports your practice and your families.

Clear costs; clear choice

Know what you are paying for before you decide.

Hallowed combines a small monthly platform fee with a per-case charge. That keeps the cost understandable in quieter months while giving the whole team access to the same shared working system. Every plan includes unlimited users, and the price is shown before you start.

Founding Firm Programme

Help shape the practical details that matter.

The first ten firms who join have a direct route to the product roadmap. In return for candid feedback on real working use, they receive 50% off the platform fee for the first 12 months. The per-case rate remains unchanged, and the standard price applies from year two.

For firms prepared to use the platform and tell us honestly where it works, where it does not, and what would make it more useful.

Straight answers before you decide

Questions worth asking before you bring a new system into a live practice.

Can the whole team use Hallowed?

Yes. Every plan includes unlimited users. Company owners can set up their team, assign role-appropriate access and retain a record of task completion. Staff who do not use personal email addresses can use a username-and-password login.

Does Hallowed replace personal communication with families?

No. It is designed to support personal communication. You can use letters and emails, and offer a private family portal where it is appropriate. A portal can share confirmed information and document-review steps, but should never replace a sensitive conversation.

Does Hallowed guarantee CMA compliance?

No. Hallowed helps organise the tasks, records and working documents that support an internal CMA review process. You remain responsible for applying the current official guidance and taking professional advice where needed.

Can we migrate our current data?

Yes. Hallowed includes CSV templates and guided mapping for key records. A sensible migration begins with open cases, current invoices, upcoming services and active supplier details; historic information can be handled separately. Read the data-migration guide.

What happens if Hallowed is not right for us?

You can export company data at any time. You can cancel through Settings, with access continuing until the end of the paid billing period. Your data remains available for the stated retention period so you can export or reactivate it before permanent deletion.

How much does Hallowed cost?

Pricing is shown clearly above: a platform fee plus a per-case charge, with unlimited users on every plan. Prices exclude VAT where applicable.
